The Print Retreat

4 July 2026, 10am to 5pm

Helen Arthur and Adrienne Craddock invite you to immerse yourself in a day of traditional printmaking, good food and quiet creative restoration in the foothills of the Black Mountains, Herefordshire.

Join us on Saturday 4 July at ‘Gatherings with Heart’, Ruthlands Farm, HR2 0EB, where your hosts Imogen and James will welcome you and provide refreshments and a nourishing lunch.

Workshops will take place in a beautifully restored traditional stone barn with breaks so you can enjoy the stunning landscape.

Both workshops are suitable for all levels of experience from complete beginners to accomplished artists wanting to explore a new technique. We have just sixteen places in total – eight in each day-long workshop – available to book.

Monoprinting with Adrienne Craddock

I'll be sharing my love of the most painterly form of printmaking to create rich, colourful, layered images. You'll be working with clear acrylic sheet, rolled up with inks, which you can also draw into with rags, before printing through a dear little etching press.

We'll take inspiration from the local landscape as well as an array of still life forms, making the most of the rural setting.

Tinted etching with Helen Arthur

If you love to make detailed marks and striking textured images, this is the workshop for you. I always recommend subjects like birds, plants and trees for this form of printmaking.

You'll learn how to develop your own etching plate, working with a sharp tool over photographic images under the transparent surface. Then you’ll ink up and take an impression by running it through an etching press under damp paper. Finally, you’ll add a tinted layer to bring colour to your monochrome print.

Tickets: £110 including all materials, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

Places are limited to 8 in each workshop — book early [helenarthur.art.shop/xxxxx] to avoid disappointment.
